Wester Craiglockart Hill

Raspberry picking on Wester Craiglockart Hill yesterday - it's a lovely hill that many people don't know is there!

We got nettle stung and scratched by brambles and thistles but we collected a good number of raspberries, most of which Crafty Green Boyfriend's Mum will make into jam, though I ate several of them and they're delicious (though mostly small).

Lots of wildlife around including bullfinches and goldfinches and this warbler, which at first glance I thought might be a wood warbler, but which thought and closer observation showed to be an immature willow warbler. Isn't it a lovely colour? (Thanks to Crafty Green Boyfriend for this photo)

We also saw this very shiny ringlet butterfly

and this Meadow Brown

Thanks Crafty Green Boyfriend for the butterfly photos!

I've added these two butterfly sightings to the Big Butterfly Count, which is happening until 7 August. You can send in your sightings here.
