Eclipsed

cold mist blurred
the almost full moon
as it rose

to redden later
in eclipse

but from our window
all we could see
was mist

Total Lunar Eclipse, 21 February 2008

edited on 21 February, I wrote this poem on 20 February, thinking I'd missed the eclipse but I'd got the date wrong. As it was though the situation turned out to be as predicted in my poem!

Just lovely...I can feel the shades of coldness and heat throughout.

I hope the clouds stay away tonight.

LOL, Rose, when I wrote the poem I thought I'd missed it, but I'll be ready for it tonight, except our windows face the wrong way and even for a lunar eclipse not sure | want to run into the streets at 3am or climb onto the roof without a stepladder ...

Nice one. Such a shame you 'mist' it.

cloudy here at the moment... so i don't know whether we'll get a glimpse of the eclipse or not

I am glad to read your answer to Rose, I thought I had missed it!

Love the poem, anyway!

The eclipse happened at a reasonable time here in the eastern US, but we had thin overcast. I got a barely-usable pic out of it. (follow my profile etc)

You evoke beautifully the elusive nature of these celestial moments, thank you!

It was quite a sight at about 7:00 PM PST right out our front window!

Like magic!

rabbits guy - wow! We had a really good view of a total lunar eclipse several years ago like that but this time we missed it as predicted in the poem.

Gardenpath - sorry for misleading, I had got my dates wrong when I wrote and posted the poem, it was only when I added the dated link I realised the right date...

divakitty, keith, squirrelmama - thanks

polona - hope you managed to see it

janice - good to see you back!

farfetched - good that you saw it!

alas the bright clear skys of last week went away and the cloud returned so I too saw nothing of the eclipse. I have gathered a few videos together on my blog in compensation.

That was a cute short little poem.

I like this. Despite all we know about the world, there is so much we can't know--or see. And yet, what we have is everything.

Nice poem. Did you finally catch it?

We were lucky to be able to see it at 10pm! It was spectacular!

Your little poem catches the feeling of missing anything. It always feels a little like being in a mist, doesn't it?

Too cloudy here, too. :(

Events in nature occur even if we don't see them. A message to remember!

Lovely lines.
