We had a lovely walk round Arthurs Seat today.
The cow parsley is in full bloom
and a few spikes of vipers bugloss are out
Jackdaws are nesting in this wall, we could hear the young calling from between the stones
There's a lot of birdsfoot trefoil out as you can see in the photo above, such a lovely flower up close
When we walked further we met this adorable fox cub, who was checking out the foxgloves
I'm not sure the gloves come in the right size for a cub's paws! The little creature was very keen to explore and hopped around in front of us for quite a while (thanks Crafty Green Boyfriend for the photos of the cub)
Lots of birds around too, not just the jackdaws but also linnets, greenfinches, chaffinches, wrens, a whitethroat and a mistle thrush (among others)! The most amazing birds though were the swifts. We sat for a while admiring this view
While we were sitting there, we were surrounded by swifts (though none agreed to be photographed!). They were flying round our feet and over our heads! There must have been fifty of them! It's interesting that over the past couple of years as the swifts have declined in the immediate area where we live, they seem to have increased around Arthurs Seat. We never used to see them in any number here until last year (and perhaps the year before). Lovely to see indeed!

All the spring flowers are gone here, no trefoil yet though. Cow parsley 6 feet high round here, tons of the stuff.
Some more lovely photo's you've shared... and yes, the fox cub really does look like it's checking out the foxgloves very inquisitively. They are very good.
Hope your weekend is going well
All the best Jan
that fox cub is adorable... hope all is well.
Just love those foxy photos - and glad you found swifts. That scream in a sound that takes me back to my childhood.
Hello, looks like a pretty walk. Love the wildflowers and fox! Great sightings. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the week ahead!
Gorgeous walk!
