More Bees Knees

This bush, in the tiny garden in front of our flat, is buzzing with bees at the minute. This is the one photo I took that actually turned out. It's the season for bee photos in blogland, as well as the links in my previous post on the bees knees, there are also wonderful bee photos at:

Crows and Daisies (Polona)
Moments of Perfect Clarity (Julochka)
Ascender Rises (yes another!)
This is My Patch

Its wonderful that there are so many bees around in so many places, because they're having such a hard time. Find out how you can help bees in the UK at the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust website.

There's definitely not a shortage in my yard - even the lawn has many bees because of all the clover.

Hooray for bees! Although I am somewhat allergic to bees I try to get very close to them for a really good look see. Might have to do a bee woodblock one of these days.

You are right about lots of bees knees pictures in blogland. I don't do well with close-ups yet. The dogs keep the bees from staying also. These are great photos here and below on your blog.

another pretty bee shot.
thanks for the link :)
the bee in my photo is a miniature one and has much less venom but it stings just as well (speaking from experience). i have no idea what species it belongs to, though...

I think a lot of people forget that the bees are ailing and disappearing. I cringe whenever I see a can of "Raid" in someone's garage, and hope they do not spray indiscriminately.

On another note, my sister's house was recently invaded by bees. Thousands of them! In that scenario, you can't imagine that they're dying out!

I've been taking lots of photos of bees and putting some on the blog. I was intrigued also today to see Borage honey in M&S, the bees seem to love borage in the garden. Thanks for the link to the conservation trust, one I hadn't yet come across. x
