In the Dells

Yesterday, I led a nature walk round part of the Dells alongside the Water of Leith, today I carried out my weekly patrol of that part of the river, recording wildlife, picking litter and chatting to people (and their dogs).  Yesterday the weather was mild and dry, today it was raining the whole time. Thankfully, there wasn't too much litter to pick.

There are plenty of fungi around, including these, which I think are some sort of puffball, though they don't match any of the photos of puffballs I've seen.

The ivy is in bloom! Once it stops raining, I imagine the bees and hoverflies will come out to enjoy feeding on this late season treat.
