I like it. Does the robin actually change it's song as winter approaches? I recently wrote a poem about the goldfinches that populate my hay fields in the summer... they are so brilliant, but molt and put on a brown suit before flying south.
Hi Jeff, yes the European robin sings a different song in autumn and winter. Males and females both have territories in winter and they sing all year, a different song to the male's summer song. Your poem sounds interesting too, the US goldfinches are very different in appearance to ours.
