Look carefully in this thistle flower and you'll see a beautiful Grypocoris stysi.(Click on the photo to enlarge it.)
I took this photo while we were picking raspberries at lunchtime in our favourite raspberry picking place. The weather was beautiful and the raspberry bushes and brambles were full of bees, red soldier beetles and other insects.

the wee insect
I didn't see
I don't know if this is how it was, but it might have been.
How lucky you are to be able to say "wee" without embarrassment. An American couldn't do it.
Hi Bill, everyone in Scotland uses wee so much we never even think of being embarrassed about it, even those of us who grew up in parts of England where it's not used so often.
I like your haiku, but in reality, i did see the insect, in fact there were two of the same insects, each in a separate flower.
What a super photo, and I love the colour of the flower too ... thanks.
All the best Jan
That little fellow is probably safe from many large predators in there!
How lovely, thistles are one of my favorites.
Lovely picture!
A smart insect to find such a beautiful flower.
I love a surprise tucked in..
__Well seen... then seen beyond, Juliet; nifty.
One of Earth's children, feasting in a bloom. _m
He's quite content and thinks he's hidden, but those that carry cameras are good spotters! Great shot.
