New Buttons Brighten up a Cardigan

One of my New Year's resolutions is to do more crafting, specially little projects that can be fitted into a spare few minutes.

First I'm going to replace the missing buttons.....

This cardigan has always been my favourite, but the old buttons were a bit boring to say the least, they were flat and grey and then I lost two of them (this is where I realise I should have a 'Before' photo of the cardigan.....) A friend recently gave me a whole load of buttons to reuse including these lovely brass ones. I think they give the cardigan a whole new lease of life. And I'll reuse the old buttons too!

Your post reminds me that I have a pile of hand-knitted socks, which need darning ...

Good work there. BL is crocheting me a hat! I can hardly wait!

My mom had a big jar of buttons and it was a great rainy-day pleasure to be able to dump them out and play with them.

Hi Rabbit's Guy - look forward to seeing the hat!

There are several comments on this post, but looks like Blogger has eaten most of them!

The cardigan is lovely. The new buttons look smart. I've a couple jars of buttons, collected over the years. They are fun to search through when I need a button for a project. Lots of history and memories in each one.

Rabbits Guy and Carol - I have fond memories of my grandma's button box 9and in fact wrote a story inspired bt it!). Now my own button collection has just expanded quite a lot! It is nice to search through them all for the right button for a project!

I can see why it would be your favorite sweater or do you call them jumpers? Anyway, it's well worth saving for the long term.

I think saving buttons must be a centuries-old practice and what treasures can be found amongst them.

Ms Sparrow - it's got buttons so we call it a cardigan, if it didn't have buttons it would be a jumper (or a sweater)
