Rowan tree

I took this photo yesterday near the Water of Leith. The light was all wrong so I played about with the colour settings quite a bit. I quite like this effect, which gives an impression of the wonderful colour of the tree, though it distorts the colour of the sky, which in reality was just dull grey cloud.

Grey skies are not always dull, you know... But you were so right to play with with your camera, the red color is magnificent, well done.

I like grey skies. They can be full of surprise. :)

Just the name Rowan brought me to mind in a flash The White Goddess by R.Graves I read, half of it, many years ago...and a great chapter in it on trees' names and myths.

Hi Juliet,

Hokkaido is known for its Rowan trees (which are the same as Mountain Ash, right?) We call them Nana-Kamado ("Seven Ovens") ---I think because of the blazing color of the tree and the berries in the fall.) It's one of my favorite trees in the whole wide world. I like how you fiddled with the color to bring out that fire-y color.
