Sunbathing Fox!

We had a lovely walk round Saughton Park today, enjoying the sunshine as indeed was this beautiful fox!

Meanwhile, upstream along the Water of Leith in the park, we watched these goosanders(the female is the one with the brown head and grey body).

The crocuses are beautiful in the park

as is the coltsfoot, which attracted this marmalade hoverfly

(Thanks Crafty Green Boyfriend for these photos!).

A wonderful walk indeed, CGP! Superb fox pictures. The last fox I saw (before the last lockdown) was on the beach at Felixstowe, one afternoon. I love Goosanders, too!

The birds are known as common mergansers here. Some fish on the slough through our property and are quite prevalent everywhere. A handsome bird!

Wonderful to see the Fox! Our Colorado family used to live next to vacant land and could see a fox den from their window. I loved watching them when we visited. Alas, the land was sold and developed.

Hi Caroline, lovely to have seen a fox on the beach!

Rabbits Guy - we also have red breasted mergansers, which are smaller than the goosanders and the males are more elaborately plumaged

Sallie - foxes are always fun to watch, hope those foxes found somewhere else to live when their land was developed
