Autumn in the Cemetery

Living so close to Edinburgh's North Merchiston Cemetery, I often pop in there just to have a look around. So that's what I did yesterday. The cemetery was looking lovely in the Autumn sunshine

Some of the holly trees are full of berries at the moment. This first photo shows a holly tree at a distance, if you click on the photo you'll get a closer look and should be able to see the berries

Here are two close-ups of the berries

These berries will offer a feast for winter migrant birds later in the year! Did you know that only female holly trees have berries?

Edinburgh is often sunny in autumn, but rarely as warm as it has been this autumn. It's lovely to wander around in mild weather this late in the year, but worrying in terms of what is happening to our climate.

The holly berries are pretty this time of the year, even over here.
