Sunshine on Corstorphine HIll

Crafty Green Boyfriend is back in the office on a part time basis which means he walks round Corstorphine Hill at lunchtimes. Yesterday I was able to join him for a walk in the sunshine.

We saw several speckled wood butterflies

and a fair number of caterpillars of the cinnabar moth eating ragwort

We noticed this shield bug larva - probably a red legged shield bug

(You can see all the growth stages of this species here).

The hairy stereum fungus is emerging again on fallen trunks

and there is some impressive jelly ear fungus around too

Must be nice to have the warm sun - you've had much rain.
