Winter birds

A beautiful murmuration of knots at Musselburgh Lagoons, the birds glowing in the low winter sun. Loads of oystercatchers too and a few teal and wigeon

Five long tailed ducks out at sea alongside the velvet scoters and goldeneye.

And the powerful wind filling those beaches. Creating a splendid tangle of thermals.

Sounds like a great variety of birds. The Long-tailed Ducks are one of my favorite winter birds.

It's great to see large rafts of the wintering birds on the bays.

Love the idea of a murmuration of knots - have only thought of it in connection with starlings.
