Tree Following - February update

Tree Following is a great project, where you choose a tree and record its progress over the year. This year I'm studying a silver birch tree in North Merchiston cemetery, one of the cemeteries on our #DailyExercise route.

The tree stands in the middle of the cemetery though from this angle you have a lovely view of St Michael's Kirk on the opposite side of the road

Looking up, the branches are beautiful against the sky

and the trunk looks lovely in the winter sunshine

In the days since I took these photos the weather has been dull and grey with a lot of rain and sleet!

For Tree Following.

Good pictures, especially the last one which shows the silver bark really well. xx

I was looking at the lovely blue sky silhouetting the branches thinking how lucky you were. Then I read your last sentence!

Regardless, the tree looks great!

I always like it when tree branches turn in unexpected ways, crossing each other and grow around each other. It shows off the random side of nature, that life isn't perfectly designed but still works great.

Your chosen tree has such character!
