Swifts

Do you see the swifts are here again?
They swoop so low and soar so high
I think there may be more than ten -
do you see the swifts are here again?
We know it's summer round here when
our favourite bird comes gliding by
You see the swifts are here! Again
they sweep so low and soar so high!

A triolet for Totally Optional Prompts. It reflects my conversation when looking out of our window at this time of year!

This is great Crafty! Who said you can't write structure?

There are swifts around my work as well.

We have them here too though most often they are called swallows. Delightful poem describing their behavior - love watching them glide by.

stan - I always feel optimistic when i see swifts.

Magiceye, gautami, scot - thanks

Na - glad that you love the swifts too

anthony - they're joyful birds!

Brian - its not that I can't write formal verse, more that I don't often do it! I'm lazy about it too.

Janice - swallows are different birds, well they are over here anyway...

I want to see them. But I don't think they visit New England.

Very clever wording on the Triolet. Love it! Love the Green Blog too - it's mint-green cool! I'll visit often to refresh my spirit! Thanks for sharing!

The content sings, as does the Triolet, which can be a wonderful form for just the right content. Lovely.

The repetition makes it seems like more and more swifts are flying by! Love it!
