I can picture this all my head, the colorful sunrise and the gulls. Wonderful haiku!

a beautiful blend of sight and sound.
I sit up in bed and drink my morning cup of tea while facing the sunrise. You are correct about the changing colours juliet - take your eyes off the sky for a second and the whole thing has changed.

Evocative of day breaking and dark wings cutting the colours, lovely!

A fine image - but - here - "I ain't seen a sunrise since I don't know when ..."
Herring gulls are just everywhere whether by the sea or not.This haiku gives me a clear picture in my mind.
