between showers -

A powerful image for this entire summer. The only butterflies I've located this year were all tucked up and fast asleep inside a folded curtain in our garden office!

ahhh yes, i wish we were having those summer showers, we need the rain. but alas, the mountains near us get the showers and we just get the humidity :-)

love the image it stirs up

We've been having showers here lately. It was extra heavy today, I couldn't step out of the office to get lunch!

It'll be nice to see butterflies though.. haven't seen any in a while :)

as i water plants
bugs and butterflys
go flying out of the spray

if done to scale
and they were airplanes
i'd have blown them out of the sky

what do they do
that we don't know?

wondering where they go in the rain... under a leaf?

Funny, I was seeing this same scene in my own yard yesterday. We have flowers planted to attract them. This is monarch season here. Thanks for reminding me.

All the butterflies must be down your way - up here in North Yorkshire they are sadly absent this year. Love the image though.

wonderful image... fewer butterflies here this year than the previous few... and the summer has been extremely wet.

Dick - yes, the whole summer,,,

mum of critters - wish we could have sent you some of our rain,

furrybutts - i hate when it rains at lunchtime! Stops me visiting the farm rabbits....

jack - interesting point!

art and poetry - thanks

Ascender - maybe in the curtains of Dick's office? I often wonder too though...

Nathan - I'd love to see the monarchs...

weaver of grass, polona - fewer butterflies here too, only whites in any number, far fewer darker, patterned butterflies... I've seen more interesting moths though...

We've had a lot of moths but few butterflies except for the cabbage butterfly. Love this haiku Juliet - it is the epitome of a summer day.

I want to be there. In that garden.
The moths and butterflies around here are amazing. I need to go back to the GA Botanical Gardens!

I can just imagine them taking advantage of the clear skies. Lovely!
