Haiku - Twilight, Dusk

sunset fades
to a memory -
blackbird song.
**************************
rising moon caught
in empty black branches -
blue velvet sky.
**************************
dusk haunts
the garden -
honeysuckle.
**************************
cooler
after sunset -
cicadas.

Your poems bring back memories, especially of cicadas singing when I was a little girl.

I particularly love the "rising moon caught in empty black branches."

All are gorgeous, and paint a perfect image of twilight.

Lovely. My favorites are the second and last ones, especially the texture of "blue velvet sky" behind the black branches. And the cicadas after sunset. Wow.

That is one fantastic haiku for each season, isn't it? I love the honeysuckle one best; it's haunting me now.

Always a favorite sight to see - thank you for showing me how to connect the dots - I never thought before of the moon as being captured by the branches - I love it!

(with apologies for my lateness in getting caught up with everyone's haiku this week)

Thanks for all your comments. Don't worry about being late, neasa - since putting the labels on my blog, I've just had a comment on a haiku I posted over a year ago!
