Book Spine Poetry

The prompt today on NaPoWriMo is to write some book spine poetry, so here are two I put together:

Oracle Bones

Out in the Midday Sun
When God was a Rabbit
Making Silent Stones Speak.

What I talk about when I talk about running / Calum's Road -
travels in hyperreality -
the accidental / beautiful losers

This kind of poetry is fun and easy and can be slightly addictive....

Floral poetics

NaPoWriMo asked us to write about flowers today. I may write something more serious eventually, but for now, here are some hastily written rhyming couplets, inspired by flowers around Corstorphine Hill this lunchtime.

the honey bee performs her chores
among the blossoms of the gorse

how pretty is the heather
no matter what the weather

look up, oh can you see
little flowers in the cypress tree?

Plus, can you see the baby bunnies in the bramble patch below? There are at least three, but I don't think any of them show in the photo.

New necklaces and an Etsy update

This black velvet choker was included in one of the bags of 'broken jewellery' that I bought recently in a second hand shop. The original pendant was missing so I added this cat charm from my stash.

The elements of the necklace below also came from a bag of 'broken jewellery'. The pendant was originally one of a pair of earrings, but after wearing them one day when out to supper with Crafty Green Boyfriend and almost ripping my ear off, I decided that they would be better as pendants. So I replaced the earring hooks with loops and hung them on smart black necklace threads (which also came from a bag of 'broken jewellery. it really is amazing what good quality items end up in these bags!) This one is mine

and the other one is for sale in the Crafty Green Poet Etsy shop, you can see it here. You may notice that Etsy shops look a bit different now, as there have been some layout changes on the site.

My Etsy shops now each have their own dedicated Pinterest board. So if you're on Pinterest (which is a very inspiring, visual based social media site) then you may want to check them out. The Crafty Green Poet board is here and the Crafty Green Magpie board is here. You can see all my Pinterest boards here, I have boards for crafts, environmental topics and other things of interest!

All the greens of spring

mosses and wild garlic (above and below)

 wild leeks in bloom
 horse chestnut budding
 wild leek and ivy
dogs mercury with wild garlic in background

There were splashes of other colours too, notably the larch blooms

Plus the birds were all singing, despite the rain. I stopped to listen to two song thrushes singing, one on each side of the river, answering each other. I first heard them when I walked upstream and they were still singing when I came back downstream on the other side of the river, over an hour later!

New Earrings

I really like making earrings and these are the latest pairs I've made.

These are now in the Crafty Green Poet Etsy shop, you can see them here.

These are also in the shop, you can see them here.

All my earrings are made using beads and charms from old jewellery which has been damaged in some way. The beads and charms themselves are in good condition, but they may for example come from a necklace that needs to be restrung or a bag of loose second hand beads. The earring hooks are brand new, nickel free silver hooks, that I buy from the bead and jewellery supply shop just up the road from where I live.
