I mentioned in a previous post (which also contains an early photo of the basil and coriander) that we were hoping to get some tomato plants and we now have these, they're still small and are scattered round the house in the sunniest spots we can find (our flat only gets morning sun). The photo below shows the shadows cast by the tomato plants.

We are growing our basil and tomatoes. All year long, I look forward to the summer salad of fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella - always worth the wait! Fresh herms make all the difference in any meal from complex to simple!
Basil is one of my favourite herbs to grow as well and I have several varieties. I gave up on my tomatoes. Good luck with yours!
Suddenly starving for pesto! Great pictures. Hoping for sun for your tomatoes. The ones in our neighbor's garden -- and our daughter's (here in Oregon) are performing about the same.
I absolutely love the smell of fresh basil. I bought a couple of pots for Mr. Mick, and have been enjoying the scent as they sit in my kitchen window.

The basil is looking beautiful. That's a great shadow shot of the tomatoes. So far, we have a total of one tomato from four plants. It is still green. I check daily for signs of ripening.

Your plants look like they are doing very well. I agree, fresh homegrown veggies are Much better than anything else.

My plan is to plant more herbs in my flowerbeds. They really are a great addition to the garden, and in cooking. I've lots of very hard green tomatoes on my plants at the moment, which will hopefully ripen into very juicy red ones eventually? That's if we ever see the sun again! x

This photographs are awesome. I like your idea of planting upside down is visually interesting, it helps save water and space. The kitchen herb idea is unique and best.
