Ants vs Bees

These ants were busily moving this bee up a slope on Corstorphine Hill today.

Hi crafty can you confirm for me whether Honey bees are totally protected. My partner Phil is a health and safety manager and just yesterday a swarm turned up on site. He was initially told that you could actually have them destroyed if staff were deemed at risk. Not happy with this he contacted a local bee keeper who came and collected them for a charge of thirty quid.

It is amazing what the ants can do. I've watched them move other dead critters of similar proportion to them as this. Unfortunately, here in the Sunny South, we also have Fire Ants and you don't want to get in their way. Ouch! They're quite the biters.

That's a fantastic capture. You have a good eye to have caught that. People often overlook insects, especially lowly ants.

It's almost unbelievable how ants are organized, kind of Orwell's '1984'! :-)
