Green Party Dress

This is one of my favourite items of clothing! It's a black velvet cheongsam and it's green because I bought it second hand (as I do all my clothes other than underwear and shoes). One of the best things about it is that it can be worn with tights or with trousers and even with a long sleeved top underneath, making it ideal for even colder winter parties. I wore it like that at the launch of my poetry chapbook Unthinkable Skies earlier this year.

Looking great! Very green, very chic!
Even First Lady Michelle Obama purchases her gowns at "recycled" vintage clothing for a fraction of the cost of a new one. All smart people know a good thing when they see it.

Thank you, Juliet, for posting this with a link back to your launch post of 'Unthinkable Skies', which I had missed completely earlier in the year - and was particularly pleased to catch up on now. Wish we could all have been there . . . What a year you have had - many congratulations. here's to an equally fulfilling and green 2011!

It's very attractive. I like to buy second-hand too. It's sometimes a bit more work to find something nice but it seems like a much greener way to shop.

Hey everybody! That's my long-distance environmental writing teacher. Uh - WOW!

2nd hand underwear - hmmm - wonder if you could write some poetry about that?

That is a gorgeous print. The style really flatters you. I am a big fan of vintage clothing too - I have found some really groovy stuff. You look lovely!

That is one great party dress Juliet. I am with you on the recycled clothing thing, again apart from footwear and undies. Some of my best and most loved outfits are from charity shops. We live in one of the wealthiest areas of the country (not us I hasten to add) and you would not believe the quality of the stuff people hand in. A few years ago I found an virtually unworn long wool and cashmere coat for just £10...bliss.

Cathy - I also found a wonderful winter coat, wool and cashmere for £10! It's amazing what you can find!

Oh darn, now it looks as if I said something else and thought better of it! No, just managed to post the previous comment twice.
