Art is Process

If we can create, shape, form
but be brave enough to know
what we do is incomplete.

If we dare to stand back, let go,
let water, weather, tides, life
take what we made,

Shape it restless again
until our art, our children
are no longer ours.

But to know that
we made their beauty
possible.

Such a soft, curious acceptance in this - just lovely. Oh, and I love your ladybird banner:)

Shape it restless again... that's my favorite line. Knowing we can create art in its most incomplete form is a great feat, isn't it? Hope all is well. Have a great night.

Did you get your nesting boxes up yet?

Yes - really good thinking, and gently expressed.

Much beauty and food for thought here, CGP.

I LOVE your new banner, too: we so enjoyed seeing the ladybirds in Scotland. I wonder if England and Wales have not been so lucky this year?

I shall bear your thoughts in mind as I try to create the final art piece for Seth Apter's DisCo (disintegration art collaboration) project for posting on my blog on 1 August.

I love the parallel between art and children. Yes, there is a point where they are no longer ours. We simply midwifed them into this world, as best we could.

a friend sent this to me:

The day will come when, after harnessing the ether, the winds, the tides, and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire." Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

'Acceptance' has shadowed me the last bit of time - your poem resonates clearly. Beautiful work! I wish I had written it!
