Thousands of years evolution
to reach perfection -
form fit for purpose and place
until the poison
the warming
the looming shadow
of humankind.
for Totally Optional Prompts and all the penguins, vultures and other well adapted birds doomed to extinction by humankind's arrogance

BUON ANNO ...LINA
i wonder when the evolution stopped... and why... just when we really need it....
I don't think it has stopped so much as we have lost perspective. This is very well put, Juliet.
This is so sad. What we have done to so many species on earth is unforgivable. I cry about it sometimes.
I like how these few words capture a large problem! Well done!
You always hit the nail on the head!
The idea of that which is 'fit for purpose' being deprived of function is resonant & effective.
Gosh what an impact this leaves. And sad to say how very true. Excellent Juliet
solopoesie - prego e grazie! Buon Anno anche a te!
Paisley - just that thought strikes me so often...
Jo- we've certainly lost perspective!
Selma - I cry too sometimes...
Linda, gautami, dick, janice - thanks
We are part of it all and yet we still struggle as to how we fit in... thanks for these thoughts.
There is more awareness now - more action is necessary. This is a stark and truthful piece.
ah - a poem about when perfection maybe isn't perfection any more. a sad but true thing. nice piece.

Makes a person wonder how we humans evolved into something that so doesn't fit that we have to 'fix' everything else.
Mike - you put that well!
Tumblewords - yes thankfully the awareness is increasing...
quietpaths - I think we've forgotten how to fit in
sister ae - thanks
So true. These wonderful beings that can negotiate all the elements and are so strong yet light sure do suffer in our hands. There is a heron that lives on the lake nearby. Sometimes I see him when I walk. At times, I have gotten pretty close; othertimes, he is gone as soon as he senses my presence. I always feel deeply honored when he lets me near.
Disturbing, and well done!
Mad Kane
This poem made me feel sad
