trees, singing thrushes and a haiku

bare trees -
a mistle thrush sings
from the top branch

If you click on the link on 'mistle thrush' above you'll be taken to the RSPB page for this wonderful bird, where there's a sound file so you can listen to its song. It's one of the birds that will sometimes sing in winter.

Ben Darvill of the British Trust for Ornithology in his talk last week (which I blogged about here) described the mistle thrush as 'miserable thrush' because it always sounds mournful. I prefer to think of it as melancholy, it's a really beautiful song in a minor key.

How lovely! We're in the middle of a snow storm. 12cm, so far!

The trees are beautiful! Winter has it's own special look. I agree with you about the sound of the bird.

Wonderful skies with the trees. I love the sound of the mistle thrush and we have them too in our garden. At this moment I hardly see of hear them but when spring is there the thrushes are there too and we had several times nests of them.

Nature gives so much beauty at times doesn't it.
