The Meadows are a Mass of Blossoms

Edinburgh's Meadows are at their most beautiful at the moment, a mass of blossom, mostly pink ornamental cherry but also white ornamental cherry and two shades of crab apples! Here's just some of the photos I took today

'Loveliest of trees, the cherry now...' These fabulous photos take me straight back to Housman. We used to recite the poem by our junior school cherry tree on 1 May, when we would dance round the maypole and wash our faces in the dew - all part of the traditions in Kent in the late 1960s.
