Basil leaves long gone here. Autumn clouds on the way.
I can smell autumn in the air

Just pulled the last of the basil out of the garden. There is supposed to be a frost tonight. Autumn is here too fast this year.
I don't know how, but your poem has a fragrance of basil leaves. Maybe because you feel the last of them hanging on, straining with what life is left in them. You capture the season well.
Lovely haiku - things are warming up here in Spring as you enter Autumn.
