Many areas of the UK have seen huge amounts of rain over the past day or so. It has reached an emergency situation in some areas of the north of England. In central Scotland we've got away pretty lightly. The train line between Glasgow and Edinburgh was flooded yesterday and trains were moving very slowly and there was a lot of flooding in the fields (which is where I saw the ducks!).
I took the photo above at Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve, back in September. You can see some more of my photos of Caerlaverock here. It seems to fit though!

That is beautiful country! Beautiful capture and the reflection is brilliant!
This is a truly wonderful scene. I also really like your header picture.
Ha, this is a magnificent reflection on the flood, looks like it was a good day.
Sorry to hear about all the flooding in the UK! I'm glad you got away fairly lightly in Scotland. And what a gorgeous picture -- land, water, and sky.
I have heard about the rain in Northern England and Western Scotland. It is beautiful areas and you have all my sympathy (especially since we have had our part here)
That's a great reflection of the cloud.
Hope things go better after the flood.
Just right.
Dear Juliet, here in Venice it hasn't rained now for more than two weeks, the weather is still, slightly foggy, permanently grey, fog above covering the blue. "Comatose" weather, at nine in the morning almost the same non-luminousity of half past seven!
And the last time it rained it was a deluge.
I am weating for the next weather front with a bit of apprehension...in October near Messina for the rain a whole village was buried under a mudslide!
In Venice catastrophic high-waters seem always to lurk behind the shades...
Weather: excesses in stony stillness or King Lear's fury.
Thank you for your comment in my blog. I will be happy if you find "Il peso della Farfalla"
Very beautiful reflecions of the clouds.
Flooding has been a problem in my area too, the river Ribble being a trouble spot. Nowhere near as bad as the devastation in Cumbria though. Nice picture.
Well, at least the ducks are happy with all the moisture.
The recent British weather has been on our Canadian news. Sounds miserable.
Ducks and geese always find a place to settle down and rest! :)
Great shot of a beautiful scene...even better enlarged...
What a gorgeous place. The colors are just beautiful, and the cloud reflection is outstanding. Kathy
thank you for visiting! so glad you enjoyed the photos, shetland is a wonderful place to visit, we hope to go back too. The floods are awful aren't they, we travelled to Dumfries today & saw the awful flooding of the river there & in so many other places along the drive that have never flooded before. But we knew this was inevitable !!! so soad *ruthie
I just been talking to my cousin in Glasgow about the mass of flooding. What a mess.
This is a much prettier scene.
We had similar weather a couple of months ago. So many people displaced due to floods. Water can be quite the destructive creature.
Wonderful landscape. The reflections add even more to an already good photo.
this picture took me back to a train journey between glasgow and stirling that completely changed my understanding of scotland. the western isles finished the job!!!! a beautiful photo crafty green. steven
Perfect photo, perfect sky, perfect reflection, perfect everything. I have heard of the flooding, I hope the rain stops quickly.
Your photo is so lovely and peaceful. I have not visited in a while (darned economy) and miss it.
Vegan boots: someone else mentioned Garmont. They're Italian, and make vegan boots as well as the regular kind. I'm a huge fan of the regular kind, which fit my wide, flattish feet very well. I have trail runners and boots, and they last beautifully, so I can vouch for the quality at least. I bought my very favorite hiking boots in Portree after sinking down to my ankles in a bog while wearing running shoes. They're Merrells, and lavender colored, but alas, not vegan.
Hope the flooding goes away and that it does not touch where you are living.
Such a nice place where to spend some quality time.
caelaverock is an interesting word - amazing photographs.

Omigosh, we just saw footage of the flooding in Cumbria on TV, they are going to need a lot of ducks. The town looks like Venice. So sorry for all those folks (and rabbits).
I read about the floods in UK. So sorry to hear about the problems!
What I like best is the beautiful deep colors!
...Heavenly reflection!
I wonder of growing herbs in kids shoes would increase their interest in cooking or using the herbs in salads. Maybe growing harricot verts in shoes would get kids to eat their beans....
Beautiful scenery.
Great reflection! :)
Happy Saturday!
enjoyed photo of the beautiful land there -- thanks for sharing
I can see myself standing there in awe. Just beautiful.
Great photo. I love how prominent the clouds are in the reflection. Well done. Have a great weekend :)
What a peaceful and beautiful scene! Those thick clouds reflected gently on the pond!
This has to be the only bit of good to come out of the weather this week - great picture!
This picture gives a great breath of fresh air!
What a beautiful scenic view with lovely reflections ;-)
Hugs and blessings,
Lovely shot! The storm that brought all that rain to the UK passed through my part of the world a week prior. It did terrible damage to the coast of New Jersey. I hope everyone can recover quickly!
The view in your photo is fantastic. And I like how you captured the reflecting clouds in the pond.
We have heard about the bad storms in North England. Hope you missed out up there.Great shot of relections in the pond.
Beautiful scene and the clouds look delightful in the reflection. Sorry about all the rain.
I like this haiku very much. Maybe we should all be more like ducks, and learn to go with the flow.
Great photo.
Beautiful countryside and sky, and a really pretty reflection! :)
Lovely reflection. But I'm sorry parts of the U.K. have received so much rain and are supposed to get even more. Yes, it has been in our Canadian news, along with similar weather in western Canada.
I live where it's relatively dry.
Ducks know what's up.
On a day that looks as beautiful as the one in your photo, it's hard to think about the nastier aspects of weather. Great reflection!
What a fantastic reflection. Beautiful.
