Gorgie City Farm - alder tree

I said a little while ago that the alder is one of my favourite trees, especially at this time of the year. This is a beautiful alder at the edge of the herb garden at Gorgie City Farm. Click on the images to see just how beautiful!

I love alder too Juliet - we have a lot on the farm as they do love a damp spot by the beck. What I like about them is that suddenly one day they have a red aura about them.

We don't have them here. Drat.
Be sure and post more photographs as it changes throughout the seasons!

Quite a tree - quite a place, the pleasant pathway when the picture is enlarged ..

I like the alders around our garden because they encourage siskins etc.

But the catkins, lovely as they are, can be pain: they land on the gravel and start growing. It takes ages to weed the out and then I feel guilty....
