Bird haiku

sunlight through bare trees -
the dappled pink breast
of a bullfinch.

*************************
early blooming gorse -
a heron buffetted
by the wind.

Love "heron, buffeted by the wind"
They stand still whatever the weather and if it is rough their feathers get blown about something rotten. Do you know the Edwin Morgan poem Heron?

Both of these verses put lovely visions in my head, and that is what it is all about, right?

I like the way that both of these birds appear firmly seated within their environment. I think that shows how creatures connect to their surroundings far more than people do.
