I had to look this up only to find it is indeed the same as our mountain ash trees. They really are gorgeous when covered in red berries which are birds frequently seem to get 'drunk' on :)
Janice - yes they're mountain ash, ascender - we have five different shades of berries on our rowans - red, orange, yellow, pink and white/very pale pink, they are separate variants....
Mmmm...my first visit here and the leafy header combined with the lovely photos in these first two posts made me wonder if this was a blog made up wholly of leaves.... Then, what would you do in the winter?

wondering if the berries begin as yellow and then turn red; we dont have these kinds of trees in my corner of the world

Ah yes ... Mountain Ash. I had not heard of Rowan either and thought it might be locust.
Like those oaks on the banner ... the leaves look like they really can't decide to stay or leave!!!
