the best thing about Oban is knowing thats the place to get the ferry to Mull ! I spent all my summer hols there as a child. Hope you went to the fantastic fish stall on the harbour near the ferry office.
Dear Juliet, I visited Oban in the 90s, I stayed in a B and B * a Woolsey lodge* near a marvellous old small brick bridge with white stone handrails. There was a river or canal going straight to the open sea and we took a ferry and visited a great island *maybe Mull and I read in a comment* in front where the roof of the houses were at my eye level. Best, Davide
We drove quite quickly through Oban, visited the castle just north of there (I forget the name, must look it up) and stayed in Fort William that night. Oban looked very picturesque and well worth a longer stay if we had had the time. Enjoy your break.
