One Deep Breath this week has asked us to write haiku with an air of mystery (the Japanese aesthetic Yugen). Here are two I have written on some of the mysteries of Autumn:
one golden leaf
floats slowly downriver –
harvest moon.
wide open sky
and empty mudflats –
bird calls come closer.

lovely, serene
Love .....the golden leaf floats slowly downriver
very lovely. This was a hard one to do.
You have caught the essence of the things I love about autumn.
Thank you
This haiku are so relaxing and lovely.
Leaves and golden moons, skies, shores and singing birds - could anything come closer to the true spirit of yugen? Lovely. . .
Your poems show a love of nature. Very pleasing to the senses.
The two parts of your haiku inform each other nicely. I especially like the second, which reminds me of a mudflat I need to visit.
love the visual of a single golden leaf floating down stream.
Beautiful imagery! I love watching leaves swirl and float :)
I like both of your poems but that first one is truly great. Incredibly balanced, elegant.
Two beautiful haiku - it's difficult to encapsulate mystery in so few words, but I think you have done it.
HI and thanks for all your comments. And welcome to Crafty Green Poet to Jone and Nancy Bea.
Midflats is a lovely tranquil setting.
