Spring

Suddenly
sound travels differently
blackbirdsong counterpoints
playground shouts

the air is gentler -
scarves become annoying
and winter coats are left at home

dead looking wood
buds, unfurling
architecture
of entire new worlds.

The birds seem to be singing especially loudly this year and even my old plum tree is budding. you capture spring perfectly.

  7. what a register of spring... how funny that scarves and coats will soon be replaced by sleeveless blouses and sandals... can't wait.. love yr descriptive worlds of sound, air and plants... as a crazy gardener i can hardly wait... watching the buds form on trees and bushes... tho still very cold and snowing...

  9. That's easy for you to say!

First because I coudn't poet spring (or much else)no matter how I tried, and second because it just won't get here!

  11. 'scarves become annoying' is a great line. Actually I didn't get mine out this year. I'm never that keen on them, a bit too constricting for me.

I love that phrase "unfurling/architecture/of entire new worlds"

That it it exactly, as you wait for the leaves to come and fill in the empty space!

(and I love your comment tag "birds singing")
