Birdwatching from the Train....

leaves flurry
from the turning trees
winter thrushes

a buzzard
swoops over the river -
markings fieldguide clear

a pheasant
in a stubbled field -
a swirl of beech leaves

***********************
high speed birdwatching
.............was that a peregrine?

  1. juliet, i love the idea of high-speed birdwatching. but i need to do my homework first though, i can only identify very few birds. :)

  5. I love to travel by train on a side seat...watching whatever that pass by...very much fun there!

  7. Everything else is high speed, why not birdwatching? Fantastic. Your buzzards seem different that ours, ours seem to be carrion oriented, feasting on unfortunate desert travelers......

    love these! I recently went birdwatching and saw my phirst phaesant! Lovely thing! I also saw two great horned owls and one barn owl. AMAZING!vulch

    Oh, these are absolutely beautiful!! My favorite is the pheasant in the beech leaves. What an astounding image. I also love the beauty of the buzzard here, as too often, they are identified with "ugliness" or death. What a gorgeous twist. The winter thrushes are awesome, too. Excellent work!
