Winter on Calton Hill

Calton Hill is more or less in the middle of Edinburgh and so is an ideal place for a nice walk before doing some last minute Christmas shopping. It's famous for its various follies

and for it's views of Arthur's Seat

(You can browse my other posts about Calton Hill here).

I believe there's a fell race up and down Arthur's Seat. I'd love to watch it. Must be good craic. Bagpipes to boot I wouldn't be surprised!

Hi Gwil, there's usually a triathlon, running round Arthur's Seat, cycling round Arthur's Seat and swimming in the Commonwealth Pool!

THere's been a cross country race round Arthur's Seat, remember Mo Farah racing in it.

Simon - I think that race is at a different time of year though, the triathlon is on New Years Day. And now I've just noticed that Gwil didn't mention the time of year,
