One of my favourite fledglings is the robin before his red breast has appeared.

Lovely! It is a treat when the mom bird brings her little ones into the yard.

i had the privilege of watching some fledglings this year. what a treat it was to watch them fly from their nest. very nice haiku.

the sixth extinction is a sad post. it's terrible to think we're loosing such exotic wildlife. thanks for all the links that share helpful info.

i'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble with submissions for Bolts of Silk. i thought your submission guidelines were clearly posted. i'm sure you're right about them not reading the guidelines. hope everything gets cleared up soon.

have a great night~

A few years ago, we had a roof over our porch and each spring robins would nest under the eaves. It was a delight to watch them grow and crowd each other in the nest, begging for food from their busy parents. Several lucky years, we watched them take their first flights and then wobbly-legged and hungry search with their parents for food. A wonderful experience.
Love your haiku.
