We're back from our break away. We had a lovely time with my parents and sister to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, we had day trips to Rivington in the north Pennine Moors and Martin Mere bird reserve. Then Crafty Green Boyfriend and I went to stay in Dumfries in the south west of Scotland for a few days with trips to various nature reserves and country parks. More photos to follow in the next few days. The weather was glorious all the time and we saw loads of wildlife including otters, red squirrels and kingfishers! The woodlands in the photo are Kirconnel Flow, near Dumfries.

Glad you had such a good time. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Dumfries!
Those woods look lovely Juliet - I love Dumfries and Galloway - did you manage to get to the Wood of Cree?
Glad you had a nice time celebrating. Those woods look inviting. And, otters are my favorite to watch. I wish I could have seen them. Have a great weekend.
And I look forward to hearing more, too. We thought of you when we looked at the eco-garden at Armadale. We had mixed weather on Skye (pretty good for Skye - but our Armadale day was the wet one!) and around the Moray Firth.
Loved the mention of your blog in the paper, in connection with the albino squirrel.
We failed to see otters, but loved the deer, seals galore, sea eagles and a few dolphins.
P.S. So glad your parents had a really special anniversary.
Happy Happy 50th to the parents.
Looks like a grand time was had by all.
My nature walks here in NYC are in Central Park ;)
Welcome home! I look forward to the photographs. These woods look delightful. Scotland is where I always long to be in September.
Otters, red squirrels and kingfishers... I would never wish to leave such treasures.
I love your new header.
Sounds like a really good time :~)
Ah Martin Mere - duck paradise.
Good to have you back!
Sounds like a great time, but it's still good to have you back!
