Our second trip while we were in Dumfries was to Drumlanrig Country Park. There are some lovely woodland walks here and we saw mixed flocks of finches and tits, a buzzard being mobbed by crows and a red squirrel. There were some lovely fungi on the trees (unfortunately I don't know what species this is!). Drumlanrig also has lovely buildings, you can see a couple of photos over on Over 40 Shades, here and here.

I was at Drumlanrig on Saturday, though only briefly after a visit to a wood-yard nearby. My favourite tree lives there.
Oh I LOVE this fungus! It is magical and reminds me of forest folk! Thanks for sharing the magic of your wanderings!
hi crafty green!!! this picture is gorgeous!! i've always hoped to see a tree covered with fungus like this - it mkaes me think of times past, tolkien, the fairy folk and autumn. that's where my head's at!!! steven
Wah! I'm only a mile away. You could have come for tea.
It's a type of shelf mushroom. Trametes Versicolor. The Americans call it Turkey Tail.
What beautiful picture of the fungi! We have similar fungi on fallen logs in our mountains, but I don't know what it is, either. :)

How lucky to see a red squirrel - I've never seen one, only greys round here.
