Turkey tail Fungus

Turkey tail is a very striking looking fungus that grows on dead trees. This patch is in Colinton Dell, by the Water of Leith. 

Actually I should have taken more photos of this tree trunk, as the other end of the trunk is used as a badger's scratching post. There's also a badger trail leading into the woods. Must take photos of that next time too!

And it was lovely to see the first kingfisher of the year flying downstream along the river!

  1. That's a really striking fungus that well earns its name! Must have another fungal expedition into the woodlands round here to see if I can find anything new
