Zebras on Corstorphine Hill

Yes there are zebras on Corstorphine Hill in Edinburgh. Of course they're in the zoo, but walking past you can imagine they're wild there. In the novel that I'm slowly working on, zebras have escaped from zoos and become native in Scotland.

Further down the hill,. a green woodpecker was making a huge amount of noise (click on the link and scroll down to the audio files to hear what it sounds like!), but we couldn't see it anywhere!

  2. What a cool idea that zebras might escape from a zoo and live wild in Scotland!

  4. It was so windy and beautiful on the top...and I still remember the zoo, not only the pandas but the huge Majestic sea-eagle too...

  5. Great shots. I'll admit that I wouldn't normally associate zebras with Scotland. Then again we have a large zoological preserve not far from me that has zebras.

  8. It certainly could happen! We have camels in the American Southwest desert that were imported back in the 1800's.
