I posted recently about some pencil cases I had made from some repurposed fabric samples. Well here are a couple of very wee purses I made from the same lot of fabric. The button in the top one comes from my stash and the ribbon from the second was cut out of an old diary! I'll probably use these two to put little gifts in.
Wee purses = very cute. Great idea to use the fabric as gift bags that can be used for other purposes.
ReplyDeletethese are very cute!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute and a great idea! I'm hoping to use my sewing machine more and more this year.
ReplyDeleteCUTE!
ReplyDeleteThese are super Juliet - one gets such a feeling of satisfaction from using up something from the material drawer.
ReplyDeleteDear Juliet, when I can I always think about recycling and the terrible careless wasting people should avoid. But one also needs time and money...The Waste is often produced by those who are poor and in a hurry. An example, I go to a Bio shop for most of my food and also for plastc bottles of liquid for dish washing...bottles that can be refilled...great idea, only problem: it gets ages for the liquid from the machine to refill the bottle, I fifteen minutes or so....!
ReplyDeleteThanks Juliet. I have a stack of tiny pieces of quliting fabric that will make fine little bags like yours. I just knew they would come in handy someday.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see.
ReplyDeletebunnits, DKM, Andrew - thanks!
ReplyDeleteTommasso - i know what you mean about getting bottles refilled! Some shops here 'can't' refill refillable bottles and others take a log time to do it, though sometimes they have a stock of already refilled bottles, which makes a lot of sense and saves a lot of time!
sandy - I look forward to seeing photos of your creations!
Little bags like this are great for storing jewellery, so it doesn't get rubbed on other pieces. Also would be good for wraps for tiny gifts. One of my friends always gives her gifts wrapped in something she's made from fabric, so I get two gifts...what's inside, plus a tiny bag or teatowel or pillowcase, depending upon how large the scrap of fabric is. Wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteI am "repurposing" your post a bit ...
ReplyDeleteI recently finished reading Sea Room by Adam Nicolson, after your review some time ago. A very nice read about a place and also a philosophy of place. Thanks!
There is a web-site for the Shiants and the Nicolsons and it has lots of interesting tidbits - one is a proposed shopping list of things you will need if you come to visit. (You can arrange, via the web-site, to reserve the little house and get permission to come when no one else is there. (They even tell you who already has reserved it for the upcoming seasons.)) You call a store in the area with this list and they box it up suitable for small boat transportation to be ready when you get there. There are also three phone numbers for men who can take you over in their boat!
Anyway, the list of supplies (along with do's, don'ts precautions, and reminders) is most interesting reading for a Pacific NW Yank like me!
Rabbits Guy - glad you enjoyed Sea Room so much!
