Our Venus Flytrap is very healthy just now, its enjoyed the damp summer and the occasional snack of unsuspecting flies that come in through the open window. It's even tried to eat a wasp but that seemed to give it indigestion. Now its time for it to be put into a miniature glasshouse to keep it warm and moist over the colder months. My partner is busily working on something involving a plastic bottle donated by his parents, last year's model featured two plastic boxes on top of each other but wasn't tall enough for the flower stems. I'll post a photo of the completed contraption when its made, but for now, just enjoy this beautiful plant at its best...
I have just read some of your posts, the poems, the words flying with the birds in the sky... I cannot hold myself from singing these words in praise of your birds, the word-birds.

Green boyfriend crafting. That's a lovely Venus Fly trap, I had one when I was a kid, but I don't remember it being so lush, you must be treating her right.
maekitso - it is a stunner isn't it? We occasionally feed it insects, but don't go out of our way to do that. it gets plant food though. I'll need to ask my partner, its his plant really...
I used to have one of those plants when I was a kid.-I remember feeding it flies and raw hamburg.-It both repulsed and fascinated me at the same time.-Actually, I used to eat raw hamburg myself when I was young before I found out where it came from.

ReplyDeleteGood for you. I've never been able to keep a carnivorous plant alive. I always feel guilty when they die so I doubt I'll buy anymore.
