I started this needle case a while ago, its taken so long partly because I couldn't find a suitable lining for it and partly because I'm lazy when it comes to sewing! Inspire Me Thursday's latest challenge of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle motivated me to finish it, plus the fact that I really need a new needle case! The lace is from a stocking, the velvet and the inner fabric are from old underwear, and the felt is made from shed rabbit fur. I sometimes wish I was good with my hands. Maybe it is a lack of patience.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you... I have five aprons that I started a few months ago with grand plans of giving them as Mother's Day gifts. You can well imagine how far I've gotten on them. Sigh.

Very nice. I have tons of interesting clothing pieces/unused fabric scraps which I used to make into doll clothes. But since my niece is 21 now, I obviously don't.
ReplyDeleteI have a question for you: have you done a post on recycling lint? If not, do you know anything about it? I don't use my clothes drier a whole lot (since I have lovely clotheslines in my basement), but I do fluff towels, sheets, and jeans for about 5 minutes a piece, and I naturally get some lint.
I read on feministmormonhousewives.org about how lint can be composted, but I'm not much of a gardener, and how it can be put in cardboard eggcartons then coated with parafin wax and used as a firestarter, but I don't have many fires. Someone else suggested papermaking -- now that I'd be willing to try!
Do you know anything else?

ReplyDeleteSeeing someone so creative makes me wish I could sew....unfortunitely my skills are limited to buttons and usually only if it will make my artwork more attractive. The family are on their own I am afraid if anything needs mending.
