haiku

half bare trees -
carrion crow collects
leaves

This is what I saw yesterday, I was totally fascinated, why would a crow be collecting leaves at this time of the year? For a winter roost nest?

They also can wake you up very early in the morning with their loud noises.

Here is a little poem I once wrote...

    This morning I awoke
to the sound of the raven
    that beautiful black bird
    that flies in the heavens
    but I listened closer
    and now I know
    it was only the sound
    of a noisy old crow.

    ha ha

  4. Crows are extremely intelligent and are one of the species that uses tools. They use the leaves after they have ripened as tools for foraging.
    Great haiku Juliet.

  5. Janice - I know crows are intelligent and even that they use tools but leaves as tools - that I didn't know. Wow! Thanks!

Sandy - thanks for your poem!

maybe a bit of a tossed salad? I see others painting and posting of crows; so maybe a universal vision?
