We've just had a lovely few days in Peebles. We stayed at Venlaw Farm Bed and Breakfast as we have done a couple of times before. This time there were four young lambs who were very friendly
while the farm dog (I'm pretty sure this is Meg who was there last time we visited) was very eager to play, despite having a bit of a limp
We went for some lovely walks, including along the River Tweed
where we saw this family of goosanders
and this young oystercatcher with one of its parents
We then continued along the river through the wooded cycleway to Glentress
We also walked round the hill path circular walk that starts from the farm
We saw plenty of butterflies, including this red admiral
and moths including this, which i think is a red necked footman (please correct me if I'm wrong!)
Even the short woodland walk into the centre of Peebles was full of wildlife including this family of rabbits
and this very angry blackcap
I've never seen a blackcap with its cap raised like that before! It must have been nesting very close to the path!
We didn't even need to leave the bedroom to see this most beautiful mayfly - any ideas on which species it might be?

What wonderful photos - I clicked to enlarge and see the detail. Those ducklings and baby rabbits are delightful! I have only stayed near Peebles (well, within reach of the town) on one occasion and we really enjoyed the banks of the Tweed. So glad you had such a good time away, Juliet.
Great catch on the young Oystercatcher, They are quite prominent here, but I have never seen a young one! Got our Red Admirals out here too!
Hello, what a wonderful trip. I love the lambs and all the birds. Great shot of the Merganser family. The rabbits are adorable. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
