We were delighted to find some very good exampes of earth star fungi in the 'Hidden Meadow' in Colinton Dell today.
They're always impressive to see!
We were also very happy to see the orange ladybirds gathering together to hibernate in the fence posts as they often do. The odd thing is I've never seen this type of ladybird except when it's gathering like this.
We also saw a juvenile grey heron, thanks Crafty Green Boyfriend for this photo
and finally, we watched this cute grey squirrel in a yew tree in Colinton village, again it was Crafty Green Boyfriend who took the photo
That's a very muddy looking heron!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have a look in simiar spots for lady birds!
Lots to see!
ReplyDeleteHi Simon - it's dark largely because it's a juvenile, I think
ReplyDeleteRabbits Guy - there is indeed!
Treasures, these are treasures. Thanks. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Crafty green boyfriend - I like that. :) Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this beauties.
ReplyDeleteMany greetings!
Those ladybugs, orange and red both, really love white RVs for some reason... A couple of times when we were traveling we found nests like that in corners outside and one year somehow some got inside and hatched What a mess that was. I always loved them before that, and maybe now it's been long enough that I can again!
ReplyDeleteImpressive fungi!
I've never seen lady-birds like this!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of the squirrel - well done 'crafty green boyfriend'
All the best Jan
