I love woodpeckers - I think they're my favorite birds (along with hummingbirds).

ReplyDeleteFrom the signs, it sounds like it would be a wonderful place to walk. Certainly agree with you re. cleaning up after your pets. Not everybody here does (apparently, sadly).

TexWis Girl - good point, though i know some people go out and gather it up to use as manure for their gardens....
Sounds like a wonderful place to spend an afternoon! And it would be better if people picked up after their animals. I am an animal lover, but not of their waste!
ReplyDeletelove the signs. people tend to forget to pick up after their dogs (you should see my front yard).
ReplyDeleteIf riders cleaned up after their horses they would need to carry a large scoop shove with them. Don't think that's likely. Perhaps they should ride their horses at the side of the trail, not down the middle.

Looks like it is a place for everyone to enjoy, even the dogs. I have most dog owners are responsible and clean up after their dogs. Great collection of photos, I like the cute squirrel. Have a happy day!

Hello Juliet, this is a different hello as if i learned about you for the first time! I've just opened the About You and saw the interesting works you've done, realized you have a book on Bougainvillea Dancing wonder about the photos you included there. And then the Unthinkable Skies, these are amazing titles. I am now thinking of my unusual sunsets from my 5th Floor Window, that i have been posting in my other blog again and again. I can certainly make a book from all those wonderful sunsets, hahaha! But publishing is difficult here. Hmmm. I wish you see them too.www.abagillon.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete@ TexWisGirl - good point I believe! I live with a stream through our property and hundreds of cows on the surrounding hillsides and fields. Plenty of "Pick up after your Dog" signs, bag stations and bins to throw the bagged poop in. But as to the cows ...??

Thanks to all of you pointing out that people are unlikely to pick up after their horses. Very true! As i commented to TexwisGirl some people do collect horse manure for their garden and the other issue is that dog dirt is a public health issue (n that it can spread disease) in a way that horse dung isn't. As for cow pats in fields, RabbitsGuy well that's just part of farming (and cow pats are great for insects which in turn are great for birds!). Of course cow pats on roads are a different matter,

ReplyDeleteWe put signs on our fences and gates where there is a public footpath but we are not sure that people read them.

cow pat spread disease too,and horse riders on the road are a sore point with me,a lot of them in my neck of the woods act like they own the road we had a run in with on the other week we were driving slow like 5 mph she had her dog runing all over the road she had no control over the dog as it kept runing out in front of us as we tried to creep around her next thing she deliberately road her horse in front of us to stop us from trying to go around her her behaviour was out rageous it could have caused an accident.1 she should never had the dog with her whilst riding and 2 she was breaking the highway code and 3 she was dangerous
ReplyDeletespeedy - I take your points but round here, cow pats aren't generally found on footpaths and we don't have that many horses on roads, though we do have them on our cyclepaths. I totally agree that horse riders and dog walkers need to be in control of their animals, specially of they're riding a horse and walking a dog at the same time.
