One of my favourite birds Juliet - we have them on our beck here on the farm and one of the nicest things about the Netherlands last year was to see so many herons and so tame that they didn't fly off when we got close to them.
Great to see that there are still Herons on Arran. Did you ever get to that wooded pathway to the beach near Kilmory? There was a huge Heronry there many years ago. I'm just curious as to whether it's still there.
Wonderfully captured moment!
ReplyDeleteThat is really something :) :)
Handsome bird. I wonder who he's waiting for?
ReplyDeleteWhat a bonus! Not only a great wooden bridge, but a wonderful visitor, too!
ReplyDeleteI never tire of bird pictures, in fact of nature, photographed, while it's happening or in this case, just chillin' on a fence.
ReplyDeleteAlways a pleasure to stop here.
And I am in love with all the naming of geographic things you have.
He made me think of an old man, hunched up in his grey overcoat and dreaming of times past!

nice capture. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. There is something almost prehistoric, pterodactyl-like, about herons.
ReplyDeleteNice shot! It's wonderful to catch birds when their camouflage isn't working!
ReplyDeleteI only ever see them actually in the water or on a rock in the water, this is something special!
ReplyDeleteMust be full!
ReplyDeleteI really love this photo - I can imagine the bird sidestepping along the fence, for some reason :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo, lovely bird.
ReplyDeletePerfect capture! A bridge with some distinction - in this case, a lookout perch! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful creature.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and your sweet words.
...and here, the Great Blue Herons wade the shoreline, without perceptable motion... 'till that instant!
ReplyDelete__Lovely! _m
I love the herons. I recently got a treat when I saw some Green Herons at the river. Haven't spotted any of them in many years.

ReplyDeleteGrey Herons are awesome! Great spotting.
ReplyDeleteLove this, Juliet! Heron's are good luck for me ...
ReplyDeleteWell, as per my experiences, very hard to capture this type of nature photographs. It is really very beautiful and like to appreciate.
