Summer storm

flash of lightning
-moment of silence-
thunder crash

clouds fray into rain
water shines slate roofs

gulls flash almost golden
in the low light

  1. Oh my. Did you just write this? About the storm that just passed? How eerie - I just wrote about this storm as well.

I love the last two lines.

  2. Your the second person I've read to have had a storm today. It's been 82 here and hot. Your storm sounds nice though. Love the poem tribute. Have a great day.

  4. We get very few big storms in Angus but had the huge one last night. Amazing lightshow and what seemed to be buckets of water being thrown at our window! Exciting...

  5. I like the shiny slates and golden gulls. Odd, but right, to think of storms as full of light!

  7. I love the golden gulls and the fraying of the clouds. I got caught in a couple of thunderstorms last week in Norfolk - very dramatic!

I grew up with violent thunder storms down in tornado alley, also known as the state of Oklahoma. The first poem is perfect. As kids, we would try to see how far we count count in between the rumble and the flash.

Hey, I think I might use that phrase in a poem!

  12. I love this poem!! Very picturesque!
The rainy season is not over yet here. We had a thunderstorm yesterday. But I always like to see the shiny slates and flying birds in the sky after the rain.

  15. Thanks for visiting My Muskoka! I am glad you liked my turtle.

He was immobile, and I am hoping he will inspire a poem.

Great reading yours - more inspiration! I have no day job, so there is no reason not to be prolific.

P.S. Watch for a post I am working on. It is a comedy, and will use your name in vain!
